I'm always up for a new flavour/texture in food so I jumped at the chance the other day to try a Fuyu. The Chinese lady who runs the deli near our office offered me one after I showed some idle curiosity at a box of them on her counter.
Pretty damn nice, I was really surprised because it looks like an under ripe tomato and seemed pretty hard. Did a quick bit of research and they're known as Japanese Persimmons even though they're native to China...?? Go figure!
Anyhoo if you see one buy one and try it, well worth it.
