So that's it then, that's 3 weeks of holidays done and dusted. What did I do though? Did I really just have almost a month off of work? It didn't really feel like it. I guess I can blame Christmas and the new year for breaking it up so that it felt like 2 short breaks. Either way as tonight was the last night of our breaks for those of us lucky enough to have had breaks, we decided to try Chi Restaurant in Vic Park. Word on the street had us believing this was a cut above your average suburban Chinese restaurant. Word be right.
We had to wait 15 minutes for our seats to empty out when we arrived, but that's a good thing right? I mean it's better to hit a place that's packed to the rafters than dine alone. It must be good if it's that popular. No sweet and sour pork here, here you get boiled pork and salty egg omelettes alongside your deep fried pigs intestines. Don't worry it's not all like that, it's just that we have a need to eat the strangest shit whenever it appears on a menu. If you really really like and seriously I mean really really really really like to eat pig then you really really should try the deep fried pigs intestines. If you don't like pig then seriously DO NOT try the intestines. That's all I'll say about that.
The rest of the menu is standard Chinese fare with some additions, but good Chinese fare, cooked well and definitely a cut above your local Dragon Inn. Only down side was that by the time I got home I was pretty thirsty. Now I don't want to say the evil acronym (MSG) because Maccas chocolate coated salty pork balls aside, we did eat some other pretty salty dishes. I hope it was the later.
It's loud and squeezy but the atmosphere was great, the decor is nice, the prices reasonable, the service excellent and the food was great. It's well worth a check out.
Highlights: Atmosphere, pricing, service and most of the food
Lowlights, salty balls and pigs intestines
Score: 7 chopsticks out of 10

Chris eats the intestines

Caz eats the intestines, what makes this pic so funny is Caz didn't know I was taking the pic so she's not striking a pose. They really did taste that bad
