DRIVE

Caught this flick over the weekend, I suggest you go see it. What a roller coaster you'll be on. First you'll start with the tension of the scene below and then you'll start to wonder if anything's going to happen when all of a sudden you realise you're starting to tense up again. This time really tense up though because something is surely going to happen and then BAM BAM BAM!!...whoa! That is my review.

Watch only this trailer, which is the only one that doesn't give away the entire plot. Why the others do is beyond me. This one gives you the feel of the flick though, so well worth it and tell me you don't get a little tense watching it....

AND THEN WE WENT ALL ARTY AND BLACK AND WHITE ON YO ASS

Flicked my settings over to monochrome to see what I could capture, happy with a few of them, especially the first pic. I'll put that and a couple of others up in a larger format at YeLPanorama shortly. One of the first times I've felt comfortable snapping pics of complete strangers too, everyone just seemed so happy so it seemed the natural thing to do....

DID I MENTION WE HAD PAELA?

Well two of us did, amongst other dishes. It wasn't bad either and watching it cook on the huge pans was pretty cool too...

TWILIGHT HAWKERS MARKET IN COLOUR

So every Friday night till March there is going to be a Twilight Hawkers market in Forrest Place, seriously try and get along if you can. We had a great time, sure it was crowded but their was a great atmosphere and the food was "well tasty". Sure, we had to put up with helicopters buzzing overhead along with F18 fighter planes (seriously, please explain to me what a fighter jet is going to do in the case of a terrorist attack. They move at a kazillion miles an hour yes?) anyway because of CHOGM there were cops in every nook and cranny and choppers etc overhead, but apart from that all was good. Took a heap of pics in colour and then black and white so, first up colour....

I love this building

FESTIVAL MARKETS EAT DRINK MOVIES FRIENDS BLAH

Nice long weekend this weekend, which meant Friday off and festivals and markets and drinks and friends and movies and everything else. I went a bit snap happy too, but I've narrowed the pics down some. It started with a walk into Northbridge for the CHOGM festival, past the bean bag space....

GLASS

A dude called Aidan who used to work with me has a pretty talented brother called Llewelyn Ash. This guy makes some incredible glass pieces. You can check out his website here but there's also this fairly cool clip....

Llewelyn Ash {Adventures of a Glass Blower} from Benjamin Dowie on Vimeo.
A glimpse into the life of talented South Australian glass blower, Llewelyn Ash.

Llewelyn's work has a distinctive and unique style that is sensitive to his surroundings. A lover of the outdoors, surf, sun, and skating, you can see his influences unfold in the stunning pieces he creates.

Llewelyn’s glass is now being exhibited in art galleries Australia wide.  With exhibitions held in Adelaide, Melbourne, and Sydney in the last two years, including the Design Institute of Australia award, and the Australian National Glass Museum Student Award show.

HONEYWHEELER

Gah, seems I know a fair few talented musically inclined peeps at the mo. I can't post a co workers new release without sharing my good buddy Chris's new music too. Chris is a part of Honeywheeler, playing some grungier almost west coast USA sounds, check out their new song I Don't Love You (but the sex is really good)....

D.Y.P

I has me a new assistant, nothing new there I know, we have a few. But this is the first new assistant we've employed who also DJ's some nice chords around the traps of Perth. D.Y.P has just put out a new release, now available on iTunes - Every Day EP by D.Y.P. I've been listening to it this arvo and it has some really nice beats, if you like a little Future Garage then check him out. Meanwhile thanks to the internet I found some more of his stuff....

and this track which sadly isn't on the EP - one of his best IMO

42 YEARS AGO YESTERDAY

At the stupidly young age of 47, Jack Kerouac passed away. I really only discovered his stories over the past 10 years but he's quickly slotted in as one of my favourite authors. I've just realised I'd missed the anniversary of his death by a day, so I should make up for that right now with a cool pic of the man himself....

WHOLE LOTTA LOVE

Remember Michael Winslow, the dude with the microphone from those bad Police Academy flicks? Well check this out as he performs Led Zeppelin's Whole Lotta Love on a Norwegian chat show called Senkveld med Thomas og Harald. Prepare for mind to be blown....

YOU GREAT GALAH

Looked up from our morning tea today to see that we'd parked near a Pink and Grey Galah's nest, what follows is a few moments in the average day of a Pink and Grey Galah, well ones that have annoying humans staring at them and snapping pictures and saying "ooh they're so cute" and other stuff....

Spotted the adult on to off the hollowed tree trunk and then noticed something moving below

I REALLY DO SEE SOME "STUFF"

The strangest, oddest and unusual stuff constantly appears before me up here in the Pilbara. It's an interesting place for sure....

This tree has some issues...."It's not a tuumaaarrr"

The Pilbara is a long way from Africa and yet we often find a "Tarzan" vine around the place
