EVERYBODY WAS TEN PIN BOWLING

sing it "Everybody was...ten...pin...bowling" "dood oot dood oot dood oot"

Steve, Waz, Gaz and I slipped a few hours of ten pin in this afternoon, great fun. Couple of cold brewskies and smash a few pins, the prefect afternoon. As crap as we all are at bowling we actually did pretty well. I even managed 6 strikes in a row and yet still lost to Steve by 3 points.

As soon as we started our second game the power crashed out on us and we lost all of the neon and blue light, imagine how stunned we were to see that walls were....yellow!

The guys and gals on the table at the back of this pic were constantly checking out Steves and my tattoos, well Steves really. Turns out they are the crew from the tattoo shop across the road from the hotel. So we dubbed them North Perth Ink. Good times.

ENOUGH ALREADY

Please, no more ham, no more turkey, no more prawns and crayfish...well maybe just a little more cray. Day 4 of this endless feast has finally ended. One final invite today to a friends house to eat the last of the ham and drink the last of the beers. At least 2 kilo's added to my girth, new exercise regime starts tomorrow, iPod is charging as I write this.

I thought I might give my new tripod a run tonight, so on the way home I dropped into the South Perth foreshore which I stupidly thought would be clear of people, forgetting entirely that today was a public holiday. I snapped off a couple of shots of the Perth skyline and they'll do for starters. I think I need to tweak the camera settings a bit and find a better angle to shoot from and a spot with less people. Maybe next time.

NO IDEA

I spotted this small statue along Oxford st in Leederville the other day. It appears to be a miner crawling out of a manhole. Effective? Yes. Reason? No Idea. I kind of expected the building behind to be a mines department office or a mining contractors HQ but it's mostly empty and for lease. So it just seems an odd piece for this spot. I'm guessing the torch under his chin lights up at night.

THE HOOD # 100

Wow number 100 is upon me. So I figured this should be a good one, it's not a massive piece but a clever piece. A battle scene in an alley near my place complete with burning village/town/city in the top left corner. The whole piece is a series of decals and as much as the battle is awesome whats more awesome is the individual battles within. Have a good look at each event for full effect. Here's to the next 100.

BURP

So that's christmas day done and dusted. So much build up, so much organizing, so much cooking and then....it's all over. I had a great christmas day, was meant to head to a friends house but plans changed and we went to a friends friends house. End result I knew 2 of the 8 other people there and this is what made it so good. One from Canada, one from Ireland and two from Norway. So amazing conversations throughout the day about all kinds of stuff. That and there was the great food....
  • leg of ham with a maple syrup glaze (the Canadian influence)
  • rare roast sirloin of beef with mustards
  • whole barramundi packed in sea salt and fennel seeds then cooked on the BBQ
  • watermelon and mint salad
  • a char grilled vegie salad with caramelized red onion and a basil oil vinaigrette that I whipped up (see pics below)
  • finished off with Pete's layered chocolate and nougat brownie sponge cake = deeeelish
I was so engrossed in the day that I pretty much failed to take pics

BUSY TOMORROW FOR SOME REASON

So no time for mandatory christmas blog of merryness

Have a merry christmas everyone, hug those you love and even those who dont love you - it'll make em feel uncomfortable, especially if you hang on for about 10 seconds longer than expected

365 DAYS WEEK 6

Week 6 of my 365 Day challenge. Began with a few small luxuries, followed up with some introspective work, some art on the street and finally good old mother nature

STATE OF THE PARK

I'm fortunate to live near one of the best parks in my city, Hyde Park. I walked through it today on my way into Northbridge to catch a movie with Macca. I have to say that what I saw was pretty ordinary, the park that is not the film, the film was great. I know there is a plan in the wings to save the lakes at Hyde Park but from what I've heard of this it sounds awful, poor and ill advised. Hopefully the new councillors recently elected can expedite a better plan and expedite it soon. I love my park and I hate seeing it like this....

Edit: I've just re read this blog and I don't think the above words really express my anger at the state of this place. It extremely fucking pisses me off to see this beautiful sanctuary in the middle of my town fall into such a shitty state year after fucking year. The time to fix this is NOW. Yes that's how I actually feel about this, right then, I'll be off, carry on.

There used to be a sign in this frame that showed all the different types of water birds that nested in these lakes. I guess there's no need for one now, just put up a picture of a sick duck.

Amounts of over $100,000 have been mentioned as to construction costs of this new stage in Hyde Park, perhaps money better spent on the dying and diseased lakes.

At least my fav tree in the park has exploded into red again, always a good sign that christmas is coming.
