This is an awesome find, a great tune on its' own but the visuals that go with it are fantastic. The vision is from a 1973 documentary about a festival called Wattstax. Check the hats and the moves at 2.39. A great accompaniment to this earlier clip

EGYPT ERUPTS
I've been following the blow up in Egypt closely. Mostly because I was there only 3 weeks ago and as short as my visit was (1 week) I met quite a few Egyptians and spent a lot of time on the very streets that are erupting. So I sort of feel like I have a connection of sorts, bit silly but that's how I feel. Hopefully there's a good result out of all of this.
I asked a few of the Egyptians I met what they thought about their government, because the thing that struck me in Egypt was how there didn't really seem to be a good distribution of wealth. It was grimy, dirty and at times septic. It also had a smell and not the spice smell I had been expecting. It smelt bad (I have to state here that I'm not bitching just explaining, I loved Egypt). This was not a happy country and this was not a country that had a healthy level of living. To a man and a woman each responded to my question with something similar to, "We love Egypt, but our leader is a dictator". Nobody was happy with Mubarak, they complained of corruption at all levels, they complained of poor wages and expensive food and goods. These are the same complaints the press are reporting on these past days, this is what's wrong with Egypt.
A driver we hired from our hotel to drive us around Cairo for the day explained to us that he made 80 Egyptian Pounds a week, that's around 15 Aussie dollars. No wonder he baulked when we offered to buy him a sandwich for lunch which cost 35 Egyptian Pounds. We didn't realise how much he earnt until after we had bought it for him. I felt awful for putting him in that position, eating a sandwich worth almost half his a weeks pay. Don't worry, I tipped him more than he earnt in a week when we parted. So maybe if you didn't before, you now understand why they're rioting in the streets.
I snapped these pics from trains and taxis as we travelled through Egypt, not exactly a utopia is it

INTO THE GOOSE FOR A GANDER
Dropped into The Goose Cafe Restaurant in Busselton last Friday night for a meal with some of the staff on the weekender workshop thingy. First up, I don't think you will see many other places with a view like that of The Goose, looking out down and along the Busselton Jetty and across the Indian Ocean. It's pretty damn spectacular.
We were greeted at the door by the manager and our request for a table for 8 was answered with a yes, perhaps a drink at the bar first whilst we get your table ready, don't mind if we do. Some nice beers on tap and a wine list full of local and interstate wines. After about 15 minutes our spot was ready and we headed in. We ordered pretty quickly being as we were all famished, it was here that we made a slightly fatal mistake. No we didn't want any starters, not even something to nibble on, we'll just go straight into the mains. Only the mains took over 40 minutes to get to us.
According to the bar staff it was quiet for a Friday night and yet we waited a bit too long, this is where the service could be improved, this is were a good service person notices the wait, comes on over and explains why and suggests at least some garlic bread or something. This didn't happen. In fact once we'd ordered our wines we were never spoken to again! We even had to go to the bar ourselves for a second bottle. For the prices the Goose charges the service needs to step it up a notch. Whilst eating my main meal I noticed a lot of the staff were polishing cutlery with hardly anyone paying attention to us or the other diners, a common tactic when it's quiet and a supervisor sees a chance to get out early, get them all cleaning up. Only the service will always suffer if you leave the floor understaffed
That's where I'll stop complaining because once the food did arrive it was on all counts very good. The Linguine with Carnarvon prawns, chilli and sliced olives topped with toasted parmesan and tossed in olive oil was superb, so was the 3 hour roasted pork belly with fennel along with the rest of our orders. The Goose does good food and is an example of how much Busselton has upped the stakes in the dining department over the years. If only they could master the service to match the food, especially with the prices charged which are slightly on the high side but not unwarranted if everything was top notch. I highly suggest that if you find yourselves in Busselton and in the need for a good meal with a great view that you head to The Goose.

A MAMMOTH WEEKEND
I spent the weekend down in Busselton with all the gang from work, bit of a bonding/workshop kinda thing. Mostly we spent the time drinking. On Saturday once we'd finished with the formalities we all headed down to Mammoth Cave, just south of Margaret River. An impressive piece of real estate.

A THURSDAY BRIDE
Married on a Thursday, as you do, now just needing a spot for that perfect photo
This kind of struck me as a little bit sad. I mean they were just married, obviously, but she was walking behind him, they weren't holding hands, he seemed disinterested in her, there was no wedding party with them and it was on a Thursday. I'm sure I've read way too much into it, but at that very moment....

MUSIC FRIENDS AND A NAKED GUY
Well, semi naked, more on him later. Yesterday was the first of my town's free summer concerts. Not sure who was playing but that wasn't important, she was good though. What was important was catching up with good friends on a sensational summers afternoon/evening in good old Hyde Park. When I say good friends I should say unpunctual friends because they were all 45 minutes late, so I sat their like lonely no friend guy trying to hold a spot on the grass in the shade. Not an easy task trust me. So to kill time I started playing with the Hipstamatic app on my phone and so the pics that follow are mostly so inclined.
And so to the naked guy; There's nothing worse than lying in the park all alone in your budgie smugglers workin on your tan and workin on your laptop, when all of a sudden a crowd of around 500 turn up for a free concert....is there?! Poor guy, all alone for ages then suddenly swamped, he couldn't log off and get dressed fast enough....

GET DOWN AND DIRTY IN TURKEY
So we booked a hotel in Istanbul that was smack bang in the middle of the tourist district. Yeah I should have researched it more. Did we still have fun? Yeah we did, despite the not so real version of Istanbul we were subjected to. I kinda like experiencing a city from the heart of it, getting down into the back streets where the locals live, I'm more into the average than the beautified top end....if you get my drift. So we only really had one day outside the touristy parts and that's why I'll probably go back to Turkey one day, I don't think I really experienced it at all. But the one day was pretty good, we crossed the river into the Asian side of Istanbul. How often do you get to ride a tram between Europe and Asia? Exactly!
It was there on the Asian side that we found a cool street filled with grungy guitar stores, cafes and other cool places. Sadly it was a New Years Day and almost everything was shut but I did manage to find some street art, something that was seriously lacking in the tourist quarter....
exactly, where is the fucking street party?
