A BEACHCOMBERS LIFE FOR ME

Sorry for lack of posts of late, am currently working up in sunny Onslow, staying right on the beach and scoring awesome after work walks like this one....

These are collections of tiny sand balls flicked out of holes in the sand by small crabs, or so I'm told, either way they make for some awesome designs

THE TYRANNY OF MASTURBATION

Recently whilst moving house I was packing up my shelves of books and I rediscovered an old book I'd found at a garage sale years ago. It's called On Becoming a Man....

Chapters 3, 4 and mostly 5

Chapter 3 and 4 are titled Evidence of Manhood and Secrets about Girls respectively. Not a whole lot of interesting stuff in either of those sections, The Evidence of manhood dealt mostly with recognising your erection, pretty sure that's not been a problem for most guys. It did pop out this gem though....

erectionerection a

Yep, good old wet dreams, that's were the action is.

Chapter 4 dealt mostly with women developing their sexual organs in order to become mothers and housewives. A drawn out description of the menstrual cycle (which I would post if it was remotely funny, it wasn't, very scientific like) and a bit on how boys shouldn't annoy girls if they don't want to join in on physical activities, they may be menstruating you see. Or just sick of watching the boys play sport.

Then we reach Chapter 5: So You Will Understand. Which is a chapter solely devoted to the tyranny of masturbation. It's a goodun too. Basically if you succumb to this habit you will become dumb and lethargic and get sick a lot....

masturbation

Do not let the unnatural production of ejaculation sap you of your vital force "Vital Force" shout that like a Power Ranger!

masturbation a

Yep, confirmed, wet dreams is all you got for now

masturbation b

There it is, right there, the tyranny of masturbation. That habit forming devourer of natural energy.

masturbation c

and it will simply turn you stupid, keep it up and there's no way you'll remember your 10 times table

masturbation d

So that guy you know, the one who always has a cold and a runny nose, yep, he's a chronic masturbator. The proofs right there.

masturbation e

Oh okay I get it, the moral to this story is simple, don't hang out with wankers.

PANYEE FC

A great 5 minute short film about a group of young Thai guys who live in a floating village attached to a rocky outcrop, who built themselves a floating football pitch.

YEAH SURE MY HOOD HAS COPPED A BAD RAP AT TIMES

I mean let's face it, we've had to put up with street hookers in and around Palmerston st, crack dens all over the place, we've even had those hideous street lights placed down the middle of the main st in an attempt to get the "kinda like a village" effect. And we've tolerated all of this, risen above it even, hell some have embraced it (each to their own) but dear god what kind of new hell is this being forced upon at the top end of Beaufort st. How can we be expected to survive this? What if it takes off and becomes popular amongst our children. For the sake of humanity wont somebody start a petition or something and put a stop to this before we find find our streets filled with clones. This is not a drill people, this is serious....

HOLE IN 1 GOLF BALL THROW - HOW RIDICULOUS

Here they go again, those amazing West Aussie lads who usually use basketballs but this time opted for a golf ball. Oh man, I've played actual golf at that course countless times, I mostly end up in that water.

LOLEATTA HOLLOWAY DIED TODAY

You may never have heard of Loleatta Holloway but once you listen to this song you'll sure recognise her vocals, they were heavily sampled for Black Box - Ride on Time. House music is forever indebted. Thus endeth today's music lesson.

WOLFPACK HUSTLE

So I've bought myself a new road bike, the aim is to get fit again. I've packed on way too many kilos since giving up competitive sport 5 years ago (bad knees). I don't have a better pic of it than this one at the mo as it's in the shop right now having cleat pedals fixed to it, but you can kinda see most of it....

bike

To motivate myself I've been scouring the web for bike related stuff and found some cool bits along the way, including this video of an event called the Wolfpack Hustle. It looks like a heap of fun. The idea is - a 42km route, starting at 4am for a race through the streets of LA, almost no traffic, 1st prize is a set of dog tags....

WOLFPACK HUSTLE: LA MARATHON CRASH RACE from Warren Kommers on Vimeo.

Wolfpack Hustle crashed the LA Marathon by hosting an underground bike race on the closed marathon course at 4 am. A once a year opportunity to race 26 miles of Los Angeles with no traffic.

This is the newest and third event in the Wolfpack series of underground street races. 369 racers from LA, NYC, SF, and LV showed up to make an attempt at upping their street cred.

Wolfpack has weekly ride at 10pm leaving Tangs Donuts in Los Angeles. Come lay it down. Everyone of all levels welcome.

DIDN'T I SEE YOU AT THAT GIG?

Scanned some concert entry tickets today, trying to amuse myself whilst i fight the worst migraine ever to befall anyone. No I'm not exaggerating, guys don't do that, we simply tell it how it is. Back to the tickets, I'd stashed some from the 80's in an old photo album, it seems Perth had only one large venue back then - much like today....

Moving Pictures & The Church 82Skyhooks 83

The Moving Pictures gig was I think my first ever "big" concert, as in not a pub gig. I was more interested in the support act The Church, than Moving Pictures and quite possibly more interested in Jenny the girl I took along. The Skyhooks gig I was dragged along to by friends as I wasn't really into their music, ended up being a really fun gig.

U2 84 INXS 84

This was the first time I ever saw U2, completely blew me away. This was the era of War, Boy and New Years Day, good times. Three days later we were back at the same venue to see INXS. I remember thinking at the gig that Michael Hutchence was a prancing pretentious git and he probably was. To be fair to him though I was most likely comparing him to Bono's act a few nights earlier.

Stranglers 85 Eurythmics 87

I was so looking forward to The Stranglers gig, serious punk rockers from the UK coming to Perth, we were pumped. Turned out to be the worst gig I have ever, to this day, been to. People were nodding off in their seats. The band dressed in black on a stage draped completely in white sheets stood perfectly still for every song. Avant Guard? Boring as bat shit! Actually I've seen bat shit that was more exciting than them since. We walked out by half time as did two thirds of the crowd. The Eurythmics were explosive and kind of made up for this awful night a few days before.

BUSTIN A PILBARA MOVE

Finally I managed to get to the Pilbara and actually stay there, not a cyclone to be seen. Tsunamis and earthquakes smashing poor Japan (how awful was that Tsunami footage with cars and trucks swept off the roads? Awful stuff), but the north west is clear at last. A two day job which became a 4 day job was just what I needed, fresh air and huge hills to climb. It really wiped away all the cobwebs. I usually work in the Chichester range, which is quite small compared to the heights of the Hamersley range, so it didn't take long for me to be sweating and huffing and puffing after the first hill. Man I've lost all walking fitness over the break, time to get back into it, seriously! We found some very cool stuff including what looks to be a couple of old burials, can't show any pics of that but I did manage a heap of the spectacular Hamersley range, an amazing place....
