My loathing of journalism has been reinforced during the past 12 hours. The coverage of the events in London was at first informative (well, as much as it could be in the first hours), but it soon reverted to the normal cruddy murky crap that it has become.
I awake this morning to television news services intent on nothing more than boosting the death toll. "37 confirmed, 38 possible". I mean how crass is that, it's like they are waiting with baited breath for the next person to die so they will have a new headline for that infernal ticker along the bottom of our screens. Interviewing Islamic leaders asking them if they are telling their people to stay indoors for fear of reprisals...... :sigh:
Scoped a few more Flickr accounts and found some good pictures.
A self portrait amongst the dust and fumes
People evacuating the tube under emergency lighting
The empty streets of London
This black and white series of pictures were captured by a guy on the street soon after the blasts.
Most people intent on calling their friends and family.
