WEEKEND

I write this with a slight hangover, went pretty hard last night, well not that hard, more the mixing of vodka, champagne, red and white wine. That's always gonna hurt.
.
It was a weekend of friends sending me portraits of themselves..........

How bad is that rug? Scarily wazza looks a lot like me there, ha! Hope the seventies party went off guys, did Chris wear the afro, if so I want pics.

I cooked a dinner for a bunch of other friends yesterday with these two bottles as guest of honour. a 1999 and a 2000 Ironstone Pressings which I had lain down for the past 5 years, time to drink them so drink we did hooooeee.

Ironstone

Menu for the evening

Starters

Assorted canopies du jour

Main

Oven roasted loin of veal on the bone with a californian blood orange demi glace

Warm roasted butternut pumpkin salad with prosciutto, rocket and pecorino cheese

Roasted potatoes

Steamed Mexican asparagus

Afters

Creme caramel flavoured with noble riesling, chocolate pastry twirls, plum sorbet and plum puree

(Pete did the afters)

Wines were fantastic, the 99 probably could have stayed down for a few more years, very complex, elegant, lot of competing flavours. The 2000 was a much more in your face wine, a forward and fruity wine with a lot of plum, definitely ready to drink now.

Wine wanker signing off.
