The storm that smashed Perth today caused me a few dramas on the way to work, three in fact. I think the first one was the worst, it could have been serious.
.
1. As I arrive at the Narrows bridge on the Kwinana Fwy a van two in front of me had a large cardboard box with god knows what inside ripped off of its' roof racks, if flew up in the air and slammed in front of the car in front of me. That car locks its brakes up and I slide up to the back of him. He darts left, the cars behind me dart left and right, the van is oblivious and I'm left stopped behind this box. Stopped dead on a freeway, at the very point 6 lanes merge into 4 and there's a pile of cars and a bus in my rear view mirror, they can't see the box and wont be expecting me to stop there. I just ducked my head, slammed it into first and shot to my left, forcing one car to go wide of me. All ended well enough, but I was almost a tarmac pancake.
.
2. As I move down the freeway the waves from the river are so big they're crossing 6 lanes, they dump water all over my windscreen and as I wipe it off with the wipers a white film is smeared across the glass. And yep, my wiper reservoir is out of water....awesome. I can hardly see anything and I'm only a third of the way there.
.
3. I move off the freeway and past Murdoch Uni only to have to dodge falling branches from the giant white gums along South st, huge branches are crashing down on the road, god knows how nobody was hit. When I went past again on the way home I saw this....

So it's been a fun day, Perth has been slammed and somehow I have to now make my way through it all again to have dinner with Nells and co. Wish me luck.

That was pretty freaky weather alright. Couple of trees out the front of my house went down. Lucky they didn't hit any cars!
