Not good for my parents I'm afraid. Yasi has tilted slightly to the north west and will now hit Innisfail with its centre and thus my parents house. Category 5 is bad bad news. I really really hope their mattress fortress holds out. I may not be able to contact them for some time after the event as phone towers and power lines will be down. That is going to be the most frustrating part. In true Queenslander style they've had a beer and a wine to settle the news. I've downed a couple myself.
I'm following the events via Twitter and the ABC website. Twitter really shines at times like this. As someone just tweeted "the twitter feed is cycling faster than the cyclone". It's extremely frustrating sitting over here on the other side of the continent unable to do a thing to help them. I don't think I'll be getting to bed very early tonight.
