THE LEYLAND P76

You don't see many of these round the place these days, a total blast from the past

That car lives just down the road from me. Last P76 running wild - or should I say just 'running'?
I wonder if the driver gets as many "If you ever think about selling..." hints as I did with the old XW.

I drove past a house in Riverton about 15 years ago and there were around 6 P76's parked in the front yard, I think 2 were drivable and the rest were being used as a source of spare parts.

Dedicated are these Leyland owners. I'm sure there must be a club, I wonder how many are left

My dad had an orange one in the early 80's, it lasted about a month before he had to get rid of it and buy an old white Valiant. We were poor, rather than hip, so I didn't appreciate it at the time.

Ha! That's just the thing, they were so NOT hip back then.

So you were free from ridicule as a kid pretty quickly, now if your dad had parked it in the garage and thrown a tarp over it he'd have a nice near new P76 to sell someone :) for a tidy sum

The only car still today that can hold a 44 gallon drum in it's boot. I say it was a car of the future.

Those benefits in a car are lost on the kiddies today ;)
