Adam Green and Binki Shapiro – Collage

The transformation of Adam Green from one half of lo-fi indie urchins the Moldy Peaches to folk-pop crooner has been interesting to hear, not least because you're never quite sure where he'll go next. His new project is with former Little Joy frontwoman Binki Shapiro on an album of duets in the spirit ofNancy Sinatra and Lee Hazlewood's work in the 60s. A few weeks ago the opening song from the self-titled album was released as a free download and the pair have also released a cover of the James Gang's Collage from 1969. Over softly padded drums and delicate percussion the pair lament the passing of another year ("Wintertime is a razor blade that the devil made"), while sudden bursts of brass herald an instrumental freakout in the final third.
