This edition of Old Perth ventures a little further south to Fremantle, a place that has done an awesome job of preserving its old buildings. But not all of them. Remember folks, Fremantle suffered through the seventies as well. Beautiful old buildings knocked over and replaced by eyesores. The wonderful Art Deco Hoyts Cinema on the corner of High St and Queen St is (sadly) a prime example of this.

I put together a then and now collage to give you an idea of what we lost and what it was replaced with

Hoyts Cinema

For the film buffs, the movie showing first is the Race Street (1948) starring George Raft, and William Bendix. Then at 7.30pm is Randolph Scott in Badman's Territory (1946).
