COVER BAND HORROR

Speaking of emails (well if blogs could be posted in reverse order you would have read the post after this one first and would thus fully understand the segue) I got this from Chris yesterday. It was in response to my "So how did ya go" in the semi finals of the band comp. You may remember the quarter finals.

Would you believe we were pipped by a Rage Against the Machine rip-off band, with a THIRTEEN YEAR OLD GUITARIST!!!!!!! WTF?!?!??
.
They were called: Superunknown....I mean jeez..if you are going to use a band's album title....I hardly think Soundgarden is one anyone would choose! They brought their rent-a-crowd, and despite their songs HARDLY being "original" (they were singing 'Killing In the Name Of' IN TIME!!) they grabbed one of the 7 places in the Grand Final.
.
*sigh* once again, AOF are slapped in the face by the WA Music world ...interesting comments on our "reviews" (not just a random pick by the drunk scubber!), and the 13yr old guitarist did think we should have won!!
.
Done in by a cover band staffed by 13yr olds, man what has happened to the original music scene in Perth. Dead I suspect.

It's 'segue' man, not Segway! A Segway is one of those dickwaddery things nerds ride on.

Bummer about AOF though. SADFACE

It is probably mummified by now. There are plenty of good bands from Perth, but "from" is the operative word because it indicates that they're not here any longer.

Ranx I'm hearing ya, East they must go it seems, sad very sad

That is pretty sad. But the band who won the comp, Will Stoker and the Embers, are really really good.

yeah I'm sure they had to be pretty good to get through, I think they possibly should have had a cover band section and an original band section, especially when audience reaction counts for a lot in this type of comp.

Totally different crowds attend the respective styles so it's a toughie.

Where you there Maja?

No I didn't go. I saw Will Stoker and the Embers play the night before.
